Bliss Hammocks is now at the foot steps of its fourth year anniversary as a well
rounded wholesale company specializing in unique recreational products for outdoor
living, with a product line that revolves around its staple item, the hammock.
In the short time span of almost 4 years, Bliss Hammock’s management has
been able to successfully create and market a unique line of hammocks and hammock
chairs that offer a winning combination of top quality workmanship and state
of the art packaging and design.
Much of the success of the company can be contributed to the almost 20 years
of experience that the partners have in this market. For over 10 years Victor
Sabbagh has been catering to the wholesale market with his own company VAS industries,
specializing in basic necessity items including garbage bags, sandwich zip and
slider bags and a host of other basic necessity household items like brand name
detergents and cleaning products. His product line, being of basic necessities,
by nature, is dependent on the products being of high quality, proven dependability
and durability and package design. Mr. Sabbagh’s attention to detail has
earned him the trust of his customers and guaranteed repeat business. As a member
of the Bliss Hammock team he takes pride in being in close contact with the
manufactures of every product of the Bliss Hammocks line, making several trip
a year to the factories to personally inspect the quality and manufacturing
of all products; to make sure they keep in line with the high expectations of
his customers.
Partners David Ertman and Randy Ertman, bring to the table their experience
from years of selling personal care, brand name fragrances, cosmetics and health
and beauty items. Running their own company, Janco Distributors Inc. with over
20 years experience, they have created a product line that caters to major drug
chains nationally, as well as a host of international customers. The success
of Janco Distributors has been accredited to developing and maintaining a fashionable
product line that offers value, and most importantly, image. Throughout their
many years experience in sales and product development they have attained a
strong grasp and in depth understanding of the wholesale industry, the psychology
of the retail store owner and most importantly the profile and philosophy of
the end user. They understanding the importance that packaging and marketing
play in the ultimate success of a product. In their line of work, it is often
the physical appearance, and recognition of the brand name that sells the product.
Experience has proven that the traditional definition of the sports gear shopper
has changed. Today, this shopper is more often a woman and she is commonly looking
for a unique product that is comfortable and easy to use and attractive in its
packaging. Customers also insist on getting a top product that is fun and functional
at a competitive price. One way Bliss Hammocks was successful in satisfying
the needs of this more intelligent shopper was by associating its products with
a brand name and combining the concept mentioned earlier, to create their patent
dressed “hammock in a bag”.
Bliss Hammocks has also created a full line of hammocks that has invoked great
interest in all spectrums of different industries and markets. They have successfully
gained recognition in spa and resort shops, drug store chains, outdoor mail
order companies, gift shops, sporting good chains, and later have come to be
recognized in the market and closely associated with fashion, quality, and value.
Bliss Hammocks Inc. staffs an in-house art department. This is a luxury that
many manufacturers still do not understand the value of. Having an in-house
art department allows for the creation of brand identity that goes way beyond
artwork production and well into marketing and publicity. By linking the products
with an image, either a model, custom photography, or packaging, a theme is
created. The in-house art staff then carries the theme to other Medias including
sales presentations, catalogues, posters that are displayed on point of purchase
displays and at trade shows, ads that are printed in trade publications and
promotional giveaways. By the time an item reaches the hands of the end consumer,
strong brand recognition has been formed. This recognition has allowed Bliss
Hammocks to sit proudly alongside major US brands on retail shelves and enjoy

In the past 2 years, Bliss Hammocks has created and launched several items as
part of their hammock line including the Camping style hammock, hammock chairs
with unique armrest feature, Classic rope hammocks that are weather resistant,
hammocks decorated with pillows and fringes, hammock and hammock chair stands,
to name a few.
Bliss Hammocks Inc. success is also attributed to the strong relationship its
small sales force has with its customers and suppliers. The sales team, consisting
of the owners themselves, and only 4 full time sales people, is proud to answer
all their calls, email and mailings personally. They are very much in touch
with their customers needs and go to every measure to cater to them. The owners
enjoy the same relationship with their suppliers and are therefore able to keep
a close watch on manufacturing quality and have control over customer’s
special needs and new product development.
The small size of the Bliss Hammock team is its biggest advantage. The owners
are involved in both the selling and even more importantly the buying. The size
of the company allows it to have complete control over product development.
This, along with the in house creative team which includes 3 computer graphic
designers and a photographer, allows for speedy turn around for many private
label projects that Bliss Hammocks Inc. has taken on and conquered with success.
